In conflict-ridden and post-conflict societies, some groups in society are more vulnerable than others, and youth may be such a group.

In this project, we study the role and engagement of youth in community-oriented policing. Youth have a peculiar role in that they may be seen both as a group in need of special protection by security institutions and as the very group that creates instability and insecurity in fragile societies.

This work package, the second of four crosscutting thematic research areas of the project, is managed by Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, with Professor Thomas Feltes as leader and Robin Hofmann as researcher.
